Decorah resident Ellen Macdonald is displaying a collection of color photographs entitled “As Seen Along Decorah Trails” in the Decorah Public Library’s 2nd floor Mezzanine Gallery December 1-January 31.
“As Seen Along Decorah Trails” is composed of photographs that Macdonald captured at the Decorah Community Prairie, Twin Springs, Malanaphy Springs, Phelps Park, Dunning’s Springs, and Barbara Van Peenen Park.
The photographs in the collection “are my favorites of the hundreds I have taken on Decorah trails during the past five years. I did not set out to do a ‘project,’ but rather noticed that over a few years, I had captured some things I thought were beautiful. I would like to promote hiking on the excellent trails in this area. There is joy in seeing the small details of our natural world” Macdonald explains.
The Decorah Public Library will host an artist reception for Macdonald on Tuesday January 22 at 7 pm in the Mezzanine Gallery. Members of the Dames’ Rocket Recorder Consort will provide music and light refreshments will be served.
Artists and craftspeople interested in scheduling a show at the Decorah Public Library are encouraged to contact Kristin Torresdal at 382-3717 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Two-month time slots are available beginning in summer 2008.
