Learn about resources for immigrants at the Decorah Public Library.
The Decorah Public Library will host a program introducing its new Civics and Citizenship Toolkit on Tuesday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the public meeting room. The program is open to all people who are interested in exploring the library's resources for immigrants.
The Civics and Citizenship Toolkit was acquired as a result of efforts of the Task Force on New Americans. The Task Force organizes federal resources to help immigrants learn about American history, government, and culture. One of its projects is to reach out to public libraries, as these organizations often provide information to immigrants.
The kit contains history and civics study materials, a guide to daily life in the United States, and ideas for those who work with immigrants. The versatility of the kit enables it to be used in a classroom setting or by individuals who wish to study on their own.
No registration is required for this event. Contact Christina at the Decorah Public Library, 382-3717 for more information.
