Decorah Public Library will host an after school program featuring Adam Lovell and his service dog, Buddy, Wed. Feb. 20 at 3:30 to 4:15 in the mezzanine level of the library. Adam Lovell has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 17 years. Difficulties with his health concern led him to his black Labrador retriever, Buddy, who has been trained to alert Lovell when his blood sugar level drops too low. Buddy wears a bright red pack which identifies him as a service dog. The pack contains emergency medication, fast acting sugar, testing supplies, medical emergency contact information and other materials as needed. Lovell will talk about his relationship with his dog and how others should behave toward Buddy.
