Decorah Public Library will host Bob Hauer Thursday, July 10 at 10:30 to 11:15 as part of the summer reading program, “Catch the Reading Bug!” ISU Extension horticulturist, Bob Hauer will talk about “Insects and Other Creepy Crawlers” at the library. He will start with some insect basics and lead some of the activities he has done for bug camps and other entomology programs.

Even though some children are science-resistant, Bob has found that their fascination with insects can be the Trojan Horse that lowers defenses, allowing him to integrate biology, geology and other sciences into the program. Bob said: “We have lots of hands-on activities for kids. My main goal is to get them interested. Once that happens, they can learn on their own. And what better place than at a library.”
