The Northeast Iowa Poetry Writers’ Group invites anyone interested in writing poetry to join them on Monday February 9 from 6:30-8 pm at Decorah Public Library (2nd floor Mezzanine Gallery).
At meetings attendees share poems they’ve written, critique each other’s work, choose an assignment topic to write about and share at the next meeting, and occasionally listen to recordings of famous poetry readings. Assignment topics are submitted by group members and then selected at random. The February 9 assignment is to write a poem that includes the line “at this precious point in time” somewhere (it doesn’t have to be the first line).
The Poetry Writers’ Group is self-led and free of charge. The group welcomes new members of all ages and experience levels. Meetings are held 6:30-8 pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.
