Kathy Barloon and Lyle Otte of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) are conducting the third annual Martin Luther King, Jr. drive for personal and paper care items for area food pantries Jan. 19-Jan. 31. Items being collected include large size diapers and wipes; toilet paper and Kleenex; hand soap; laundry detergent; personal hygiene items; and toothpaste and tooth brushes. Checks can be made out to the food pantry of choice and mailed or dropped off at the RSVP office.
Drop off boxes for donated items will be located at Decorah Public Library (look for the red wagon) and other libraries in the Northeast Iowa area, as well as at businesses in the communities served by RSVP. Food pantries benefitting from the MLK, Jr. Drive include those located at First Lutheran Church (Decorah), Decorah Lutheran Church, Northeast Iowa Community Action (in both Winneshiek and Howard counties), Postville, and Calmar.
