Decorah Public Library will host “Bits and Pieces of Charlotte’s Web” with members of the New Minowa Players Wednesday, June 24 at 3:30 to 4:15 as part of the children’s summer reading program, ”Be Creative @ Your Library.” The endearing children’s novel by E.B. White was recently performed on stage by the local theater group and will now be coming to the mezzanine at Decorah Public Library. Sheryl Scheffert of the New Minowa Players will be assisted by fellow thespians as they tell the story of “Charlotte’s Web.” All ages are welcome to attend this free event.
For six weeks each summer, Decorah Public Library offers the children’s summer reading program to area children encouraging them to read during the summer vacation to better prepare the students for the start of school in the fall. Children ages 3 to 10 years read fifteen hours to receive their rewards of a free library T-shirt made available from the Friends of the Decorah Public Library. Additional rewards include food coupons from area restaurants. Entertainment, activities, programming and story times are available free of charge for Decorah and the surrounding communities at the Decorah Public Library.
