Marcia Berge is exhibiting a collection of oil paintings at Decorah Public Library in October and November. A reception for Berge will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday November 5 on the 2nd floor of the library. The public is invited to come and meet the artist, view the show, and enjoy light refreshments provided by the Decorah Regional Arts Council (DRAC).
Berge says, “My inspiration comes from my father’s spirit: he was a fine and commercial artist; my imagination, and mother nature. I appreciate the subtle tones and shapes of mother nature. I dedicate this show to my father.”
Berge attended college and university in the 1960s and 1970s with an art history minor and studio arts major. She was also an artist’s model for over 25 years at Macalester College, Gonzaga, the University of Minnesota, Luther College, and posed for Richard Lack in Minneapolis.
In 1986, Berge earned an Associate of Applied Science degree as a veterinary technician from the University of Minnesota in Waseca. She holds an appreciation for both micro and macro forms of life.
The Decorah Public Library Mezzanine Gallery has been a joint project of the Decorah Public Library and the Decorah Area Regional Arts Council (DRAC) since 1998. The Gallery is open to the public Monday-Thursday 10 am-8 pm, Friday and Saturday 10 am-5 pm, and Sunday 1-4 pm.
