Decorah Public Library staff will host a series of free digital photography programs for young adults ages 8-16 on Tuesday October 27, Tuesday November 3, and Tuesday November 10 from 3:15- 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required and attendance will be limited to 10 people due to time constraints and the type of equipment being used. The program series will be repeated later this year if there is sufficient interest.
Program content will include very basic information about how to use a digital camera, how to download images to a computer, and how to manipulate digital images using computer software. Kids will participate in an in-house photo scavenger hunt and will have the opportunity to include their photos in a library display and post them on the library’s website and Facebook pages. Parents or legal guardians need to sign a photo release form in order for a child’s photo to be displayed in any of these locations; forms will be sent home with the kids on the first day of the program.
The DigiKids program is made possible by a generous grant from Alpine Communications, which funded the purchase of two Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 digital cameras. Adobe Photoshop software was provided by the Friends of Decorah Public Library.
