The Northeast Iowa Poetry Writers’ Group invites anyone interested in writing poetry to join them on Monday October 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Decorah Public Library (2^nd floor Mezzanine Gallery).

At the meeting, attendees will take fifteen minutes to write a composition (hopefully something resembling a poem) which will then be read to the group. The subject for these compositions will be inspired by lines of poetry drawn from a hat. Participants are encouraged to bring single lines of poetry to be placed in the hat. Participants may also share poems they have written inspired by one or more of the following lines taken from poems of three famous poets. At the meeting we will identify the poets and read their poems. 

                    “If I could see you in a year”

                    “arise; my soul; and sing”

                    “It is the human season”

The Poetry Writers’ Group is self-led and free of charge. The group welcomes new members of all ages and experience levels. Meetings are held 6:30-8 pm on the 2^nd and 4^th Mondays of each month.
