Decorah Public Library will host a free public screening of the 2008 award-winning Lyme disease documentary Under Our Skin from 6:30- 7:45 p.m. Wednesday August 11.
A gripping tale of microbes, medicine, and money, Under Our Skin exposes the hidden story of Lyme disease, one of the most controversial and fastest growing epidemics of our time. Each year, thousands go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, often told that their symptoms are “all in their head.” Following the stories of patients and physicians fighting for their lives and livelihoods, the film brings into focus a chilling picture of the health care system and a medical establishment all too willing to put profits before patients.
Under Our Skin was an official selection of the Tribeca Film Festival and the Silverdocs Film Festival and was voted “Audience Favorite” at the Durango Indie Film Festival and “Best of Festival” at the Fargo Film Festival.
