Decorah Public Library will host “Swamp and Marsh” with Larry Reis, Lake Meyer naturalist, as part of the children’s summer reading program, “Make a Splash-Read!” Reis will be in the mezzanine of the library Thursday, July 8 at 10:30-11:15 with information about swamps and collecting water bugs and frogs in marshes using pond nets. He will show slides and bring some collecting equipment to show kids ages 6-10 years.

“Make a Splash-Read!” is a 6 week long children’s summer reading program for ages 3-10 years. Children are encouraged to read 15 hours to complete their reading logs and receive their rewards of a free library T-shirt, courtesy of the Friends of the Library, and free coupons from area businesses. Reading programs and entertainment are planned for each week along with a talent show starring kids and a library carnival, Jamboree. Questions regarding the children’s summer reading program may be directed to Sally Stromseth by calling the library at 563-382-3717.
