What managers have: challenges and problems. What managers don’t have: time. With that in mind, John Langhorne has written an “un-book,” one that offers solutions, knowledge and insight in easily managed segments. Langhorne will read from and discuss “Beyond Luck” at 7 p.m. Tuesday November 30 at Decorah Public Library. Books will be available for purchase following the program.
Langhorne has condensed 25 years of business knowledge into 75 short, practical articles, so, rather than read from front-to-back like a traditional book, readers can start anywhere and follow their interests. Five major content units are covered: management practices; management principles; leadership and executive behavior; motivation and morale, jobs and job loss; and personal development. Readers can navigate by unit or use three indices (arranged by topic, problem-solving, and development) to find the articles that will help them find success in their leadership.
Langhorne started Langhorne Associates in 1984. Since then, he has worked with leaders and managers in more than 300 private-sector companies as well as many nonprofits and public-sector organizations. Langhorne has written dozens of short, illuminating articles about leadership, management, organizations and personal development for his clients and as a columnist for the Corridor Business Journal.
