The spring spruce up for the section of Dry Run Creek that runs behind Decorah Public Library’s parking lot needs to be postponed due to the slurpy, sloppy weather anticipated on April 20. The plan at this moment is to try for our rain date, Wednesday, April 27, same time. However, weather is predicted to be wet and coldish between now and then so watch the library website for any additional updates, www.decorah.lib.ia.us, or call the library, 382-3717.
Details about the event follow:
“Snail Hollow Spring Spruce Up” 3:30-5:00 Come spend some time after school helping to get the Dry Run creekside area known as “Snail Hollow” (just behind the library parking lot) ready for the coming growing season. We will be picking up blown–in and flowed-in trash; pruning unwanted sprouts on trees; applying mulch around our wildlife plants and the access path; putting up a some birdhouses and a bat house and more. Important: wear your grubby clothes, long pants and solid shoes and socks. If you have some work gloves, bring ‘em. We will have some gloves too and snacks. Also needed are additional adult helpers, hand pruners and loppers. If you are an adult helper planning to come, please notify Heidi Swets at the library. Contact: Heidi Swets @ Decorah Public Library, 382-3717 or email@example.com.
