"You Are Here" free summer programs for youth age 10 and up continues at Decorah Public Library with an opportunity to do things you never thought you should to a book. In “Altered Books Making” on June 27 from 3-5 pm, local book artist Linda Elkins will be on hand to help young folks and any interested adults experiment with altered book art. Participants can cut, collage, paint, transfer images, write, doodle and more, to create a new story in a cast off book. Often referred to as visual journaling, the content of an altered page sometimes relates to the subject of the book and sometimes has nothing to do with it. What is started in the session can be continued overtime when the book goes home, as with any diary or journaling effort. All materials will be supplied, however if anyone has collage items, photos or art supplies of any kind they would like to have on hand, they are welcome to bring them along.
In order to assure enough space and supplies for everyone, preregistration is requested, however, drop ins are welcome as space is available. For more information and to sign up, please call the library at 382-3717 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
