Hummingbirds:  They are the only birds that can hover and fly backwards, forward, sideways, straight up and down, and even upside down.  In fact, they are so good at it, they really have no need to walk, and their small feet serve mostly as retractable landing gear.  Their wings can beat 70-80 times per second, requiring them to eat twice their weight in nectar and insects every day to get enough fuel to keep this up! 

Can we get them to come to the library?  Come learn about the plants we have or will plant to attract them, how to set up a feeder and play some really fun hummingbird games!  There will also be a hummingbird art project to do if we have time. Bird sculptures from last week can also be worked on.
