Come to Decorah Public Library at 7 pm on Thursday October 27 to learn about the changes made to the famous Decorah landmark known as “The Cut” during the creation of the Trout Run Trail. The program is free and open to the public.
Mike Root, an employee of Bruening Rock Products for the past nineteen years, will share a large collection of photographs that document the project through all of its phases. “The Cut” project required extensive planning and careful execution by numerous workers- including explosives experts- over the course of several months.
Originally created in the 1940s and expanded in the 1960s (a project that Root’s father worked on), “The Cut” now accommodates flood control, Highway 52, and the Trout Run Trail.
Call Decorah Public Library at 563-382-3717 for more information.
