Everyone is creative. Some just need a little “kickstart.” That’s what this program is about, and it’s also about having fun using a camera. Here’s the scoop. There’s a website, www.learningtoloveyoumore.com, that has on it 70 “assignments” or little creative projects. Some are quite simple sounding, and some are maybe a little weird or quirky, but all of them are like little creativity gnomes who take you by the hand and say, “Here, just do _(you name it)_ and see what you get, okay? Then take a picture of what you’ve done and give it to the library.” It’s fun to see, later on, how different people choose to interpret the same set of simple instructions from the assignments. At this program, we will explain to you in more detail how it all works, and a photography expert will be present to give you some tips on how to be most successful in taking a picture. If you have a camera of your own to use from home, please bring it along. If you don’t have a camera, we will have a few disposable ones on hand. We have several fun examples to show you of how others have chosen to represent their chosen assignments. IF you’d like to see some previews, go to www.learningtoloveyoumore.com/index.php
Eventually, we hope to have enough people in Decorah do assignments that we can put them on our website and also print them all and have an exhibit in our mezzanine gallery. Who knows, maybe you can propose some new assignments too!
