Decorah Public Library will host, “Dig Into Archaeology!” with Lilly Jensen, Education and Outreach Coordinator with the Winneshiek County Conservation Board. The event will take place Wednesday, July 3 at 3:30-4:15 in the covered parking lot of the library. Kids will be able to enjoy a mock archaeological dig as they search for artifacts and fossils at this come-and-go event. Discover and learn about the people and cultures of Iowa’s past. Learn about how this generation fits into Iowa’s history and how to solve mysteries from the past. Younger children will need an adult helper.
The children’s summer reading program is a 5 week long program starting June 10th that promotes summer reading for children aged 3-10 years. Once the reading goal of 15 hours has been reached, children receive a free library T-shirt sponsored by the Friends of the Decorah Public Library and free food coupons from McDonald’s, Pizza Hut and Pizza Ranch. Reading programs, activities and entertainment are scheduled each week.
