Decorah Public Library will host “Finding the Magic in Reading: Can You Dig It?” with Bob Kann as part of the children’s summer reading program, “Dig Into Reading!” Kann will be performing Wednesday, June 19 at 3:30-4:15 in the upper level mezzanine of the library.

Library lover/author/storyteller/juggler Bob Kann, will present a fast-paced participatory program for kids of all ages.  Join the fun as Kann digs into the magic of reading. Learn about the explorer who dug for dinosaur eggs, hear tales of buried treasure and kids who dig to China, and find out about the diggin’ prairie dogs who outsmart the silly coyote. Bob uses mesmerizing magic, jovial juggling, and everything but the kitchen sink to promote reading. Like the termite who was a comedian, Bob guarantees this show will bring the house down!

The children’s summer reading program is a 5 week long program starting June 10th that promotes summer reading for children aged 3-10 years. Once the reading goal of 15 hours has been reached, children receive a free library T-shirt sponsored by the Friends of Decorah Public Library and free food coupons from McDonald’s, Pizza Hut and Pizza Ranch. Reading programs, activities and entertainment are scheduled each week.

Questions regarding the children’s summer reading program may be directed to children’s librarian, Sally Stromseth, by calling the library at 563-382-3717 or by email:
